This post is from Out the Other's 2010 Bonnaroo Artist Previews, where I will be posting previews of all the musical acts playing the 2010 Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival. Please check out and subscribe to the full site to learn more about all of this year's performers.

It's hard to imagine liking anything that branched off of Panic! At the Disco, but I have to say I'm delighted that two former members of that emo-pop Vegas sideshow have quit the band and created their own project, The Young Veins. I'm even more delighted to report that they sound nothing like Panic!, and the two tracks floating around the internet from their debut album, due on June 8, promise a record full of retro rock more akin to the Beatles, Kinks and Monkees.

Last summer, primary Panic! songwriter, guitarist and singer Ryan Ross and bassist Jon Walker left the band to form The Young Veins after discovering their talents as a songwriting duo. Together they moved to California and recorded their debut with friends from their Panic! days, and fleshed out a live lineup with the addition of drummer Nick Murray, bassist Andy Soukal and keyboard player Nick White. Take a Vacation will be released the Tuesday before Bonnaroo, and the band's performance at the festival will kick off a coast-to coast tour in June and July with Rooney. I, for one, can't wait to hear the whole album, and to check out the band in Manchester next month.

The Young Veins play the Troo Music Lounge on Friday at 1:20 p.m.
