An emo-band that reincarnates as a Sixties Summer act. Panic! at the Disco made it big, with a rather boring teenage angst songs and the world became a slightly better place then they called it quits. Former Panic! members Ryan Ross and Jon Walker made a fresh start with The Young Veins and joined forces with Jason Boesel, Alex Greenwald and Elizabeth Berg to record their debut album Take A Vacation! (they are still fond of exclamation marks).
Kicking off with Change, with guita lickes straight out of the Jefferson Airplane songbook, they run through 11 tracks in a little under 30 minutes. A bit of Love, The Boxstops, The Beatles in their Rubber Soul phase, and even The Monkees, it is the kind of album that want to be heard in the car the the top down. The vocals stand out, especially in Everyone But You and the Kinks rip-0ff Maybe I Will, Maybe I Won't.
Take a Vacation! is an album that will sell more copies to pop loving parents than their kids.
